Hi, all:

  Happy New Year!

2003 is here with us, let the celebration begin!  As I was thinking
during
the holidays, in the 20-year span of our life, there are plenty of
things to
celebrate, so what should we celebrate at our 20-year graduation
anniversary?  For me, Year 1979 changed my life forever, and the
following 4
years at Shandong University built the bases of my life, the ability to
forge relationship, to learn, to understand, to respect, and probably
most
important, to appreciate the life that I am given.  20 years after
graduation, life is filled with struggle and joy, failure and success,
frustration and jubilation.  Looking back to the collage years, those
are
the days of wonder, dreams, great expectation and pure friendship.  I
always
think that in a certain way, those are the best years of my life, and
those
are the best years of my life because I have ALL OF YOU, your pure
friendship that leaves nothing but wonderful memories.

Upon our 20-year graduation anniversary, I would suggest to celebrate
this
special event with the following actions:

1.  Get re-connected.  After 20 years, all of our classmates have
explored
the life path in a unique way, and some of our classmates are not
included
in THIS mailing list.  I think the celebration shouldn't left any of
our
classmates behind.  Therefore, I suggest all of us to take a look at
the
mailing list, and add the one that is left out.  Also, please give
input on
how to get the information on most of the classmates in China.

2.  From the suggestions, it seems a virtual reunion is in the plan.
How
can we do this?  An essay like Fengsheng's, or a selected number of
pictures
that depict our life in the past 20 years?

3.  A physical reunion.  As we look at the geographic distribution of
our
classmates, it seems that Eastern US will be the place for the reunion,
any
other idea?  Who would coordinate the event if it will be in Eastern
US?

4.  We need to set up a date to mark for the event, what is your
suggestion?

Remember, this is OUR celebration, it will be a successful one only
when
we all participate and contribute, so let the celebration begin, and
progress to a great one that we will remember for the next 20 years and
the
rest of our life.

<<Announcement.NJX>>  <<Classmate's mailing list(2003).doc>> Hi, all:

I just got the following message from Bao Xiaoming and other
classmates in
Jinan.  I would suggest that let's think of the many ways that we can
celebrate this important event in our life, and make this a memorable
movement.  I have just updated the mailing list, but I know that I have
missed some information on our classmates, please fill in what you
have, and
make it as complete as possible.

For Xiaoming, Mingyan, Deyuan and Zilu, please get as many
information as
possible of our classmates in China.  I consider that to have a
complete
list of our classmates and their information is the first thing we
should
achieve for this celebration.  Let's all celebrate together!

(I will try to write in Chinese next time :) .)

Best wishes,

wang xing.

Hi, all:

Thanks for all the feedback and input on our 20-Year Celebration.
Based
on the suggestions and circumstances, it seems a US-based celebration
event
will accommodate many classmates in North America.  Therefore, as part
of
our overall activity, New Jersey has been selected as the site for the
celebration for classmates who can not make it to China this year.  The
event will be held at the weekend of July 4th, at a hotel near Rathway
and
Merck Company (weekend rate for the hotel $99 + tax /room, meeting room
rental is $500).  I suggest we mark Saturday, July 5th as THE DATE for
the
class reunion.  Please make the most effort to come, I will send out
more
detailed information next time.  Very importantly, I would like to
thank Sun
Yi and Xiaoqing for their effort in the coordination of this effort,
and
again, every effort we make, will make this great event better!

Thanks,

wang xing.

Hi, all:

With further input and help from many classmates, here are some more
details on the 20-Year Reunion in NJ.  Sun Yi has reserved 4 rooms in
the
hotel (see the attached hotel information for detail) considering that
some
of us may opt to share rooms.  Also both Sun Yi and Cui Jisong have
offered
to host 1-2 families each in their house, I am sure their hospitality
will
be appreciated by everyone of us.  Anyone who wish to stay in their
house
please contact them separately for arrangement.  People who chose to
fly in
please contact Sun Yi for pick-up arrangement.

I have suggested we get one to two events planned on the Saturday and
will
decide on- <<Sheraton at Woodbridge Place Hotel.doc>> site what will be
the
best activity then (weather-permitting).  With the great effort and
many
inputs from our classmates, the event is posted to be a one to
remember.  I
suggest all of us make the best effort to come or to participate in the
celebration, this is the celebration of our life, of which everyone
owns
part of all we have had.

We may have some updates as the date of reunion comes close, and
please
add your opinion on this great event, it takes EVERYONE to make this a
success!

Have a great weekend!

wang xing.

Re-union Proposal of Class 79 of Dept. of Biology at ShanDa

Dear Classmates:

Have you noticed and believed that 20 years have slipped away since we proudly graduated from Shandong University? And many of us have not met each other since then.

The images of a young you, dated back 20 years ago have been precipitated and crystallized in my memories and have become one of valuable assets of my life. You and the old time we spent together at the old ShanDa campus appeared in my night dream again and again. I have been thinking of you in these years and I miss you!

Our old memories need to be replenished with a kind of ceremonies, such as classmate reunion. Twenty years seems to be a good and an auspicious time for a reunion. We are not old but we are not young enough to have several twenty years in our remained life.

The ideal place for reunion to be held is at Shandong University, Jinan, China, where classmates both living abroad and domestically can be included. However, it makes this summer not appropriate to travel back to China due to SARS epidemic. Therefore, some of us suggested that we could have a re-union in the North America, since we all have stayed and lived in this land for a while.

If you like this idea, could you please take a couple of minutes to think where, when, and how to hold this reunion event, and to share your suggestions with our classmates? Places and times need to be discussed first. Cities in California, such as Los Angeles, San Diego, or San Francisco should be great for class reunion. New York and St. Louis are also good candidacy. Las Vegas is another choice, where multiple outstanding hotels are available with reasonable price as long as you don’t mind heat in the summer. As to time, it is still open for suggestions, some of us recommend the last week of August 2003 (August 26-28).

Your suggestion, support, and participation are very critical to this event.  Please send your response to Zhang Nianhui; Tian Yi; Wang Qingmei or directly forward it to your known classmates.  Shortly after we collect responses, we will inform you approval decisions and schedules for your consideration. You are able to use web site: www.travelscape.com to do home work on hotels and flights reservations. We are looking forward to hearing from you soon.

Sincerely,

Nianhui Zhang: [email protected]

As you all know, our reunion after 20 year graduation is planning to be held in NJ.  I am contacting hotel and serving as local resource person here in NJ.  As we are making progress to combine both classes together, we are going to have some modification on both previous plans.  Therefore, if anyone have already made a reservation on the airline ticket or made a kids/traveling summer plan, we will have to adjust somehow.  Sorry for this inconvenience.  With both classmates together this reunion peparation has begun from lots of warm hearts and volunteer hands.   In this weekend, I have seen lots of phone calls among each other, generous contributions with time, money, volunteer of talents.   The tremendous interests among us is so heart warming, make me believe it is such a blessed events that we are all looking for.

I know Nianhui has phoned lots of members and have got the head count.  In order for me to make an easy count again, would you please respond with me after finish reading this mail with following questions?  You may only respond to the questions that's apply to you.  (please be sure to respond no matter yes or no, so that I can find out if the e-mail working properly.)

Currently we are planning either on June 28-29 or July 12-13 weekend.  We will have a final decision this week.  We are going to rent a meeting in the hotel on one of the Sat of Sun.

1) Are you planning to come? (If not sure please let me know, too.  I can hold the room for you untill the last 48 hours)

2) This question is for micro classmates: We initally scheduled on July 4th long weekend, now majority from West Coast would like to fly in a different date, so we made a time change. If it is conflicting with your previous schedule, can you still possible to arrangement to come?  If you do have serious conflict, we'll try our best to accomodate.  Let me know ASAP if these dates are impossible for you, and you would like a different day.

3) How many people planning to come in your family?  How many kids?  Their age? (if you are not sure how many yet, let me know the most number possible.  Indicating the changes you may make later on.)      (One of the reason we ask this is because we will find out if babysitting for small children during reunion ceremony is necessary.  Don't worry about your small children, we'll taking care of them! )

4) Do you need to reserve a room under our group plan in hotel or you may arrange lodging yourself?  (Of course I will need certain number of room or people to make the group plan possible)

How would you like your room?  (double bed, king sized bed, non-smoking, etc)

5) Are you going to share room with somebody else?  (if you do not have a roomate yet, let me know too, so I may find out how many situations like you and make some arrangement.)

5) Is this e-mail work for you?  Do you have any current change in your phone or e-mail address or 2nd e-mail that you would like to add on for speedy access at home, or different locations?

Please respond to me for the question that's apply to you only.  ASAP so that we may have a good settlement this week.  Thank you for all the supports from each of us.  You made us a wonderful group.
